Have you ever looked in the mirror or seen a picture of yourself and thought your posture looked odd? Poor posture can cause problems and/or be a sign of underlying spinal issues.

Below are some common signs of poor posture and the symptoms I most often see associated with them.

1. 1 hip is higher than the other. Often associated with: sacroiliac, hip pain, lower back pain, sciatica, numbness or tingling into the leg and/or foot

2. You sit with your weight more to one side. Often associated with: lower back pain, lower back disc problems, numbness of tingling into the leg or foot, sciatica

3. Your feet (or foot) flare(s) out at an angle. Often associated with: sacroiliac, hip or lower back pain

4. The bottom of your shoes look extremely worn on 1 side versus the other. Often associated with: sacroiliac/hip pain, lower back pain, knee pain, foot or ankle pain

5. Your upper body tilts forward when you are sitting. Often associated with: lower back pain, mid back pain, numbness of tingling into the front of the thigh

6. Rounded shoulders. Often associated with: neck pain, upper back pain, pain when taking a deep breath, shoulder pain, headaches

7. Your head is forward instead of neutral. Often associated with: neck pain, shoulder pain, headaches, disc problems in the neck, numbness or tingling into the arms or hands
