Brooke initially became intersted in Chinese Medicine during her stay in Bejing, China. Unfortunately, she came ill with the stomach flu and her Chinese friends had to care for her. Her friends took her to a traditional Chinese medicine clinic, where doctors treated her with acupuncture and herbs. What seemed like only a couple of minutes, Brooke started to feel better. Ever since this experience, she's been trying to substitute Chinese medicine for Western medicine.
July of 2005, Brooke recieved a Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine from Southwest Acupuncture College (SWAC) in Albuquerque, New Mexico. During her stay at SWAC, she received 3,045 hours of training in the five branches of classical Oriental Medicine and 1,140 hours of observation and clinical training. In addition, she received training and certification in CPR, First Aid, OSHA, and Clean Needle Technique. Lastly, she also had the opportunity of participating in many acupuncture and herbal internships, including those at HealthSouthRehabilitationHospital and the Women’s Community Health Center.
Shortly after graduation, Brooke earned her certification as a Diplomate of Acupuncture by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) in August of 2005. After moving to the east coast, she received her license to practice acupuncture in the state of Maryland. While in Maryland, Brooke practiced traditional Chinese medicine at a small wellness center in Gaithersburg. In 2006, she decided to return to Colorado to be closer to family.
Currently, Brooke holds a license to practice acupuncture in the state of Colorado. She works at New Body Chiropractic where she provides acupuncture, herbal therapy, cupping, moxibustion (heat therapy), tui na (massage), auricular therapy, and nutritional/dietary advice.
